This is an example of the heightened coordination between TXDOT and the City of Austin that benefits all road users.

The City of Austin and TXDOT would like to alert cyclists that TXDOT will be starting construction of RM 2769 in the month of August and will continue for the next 14 months. I wanted to let you know that the section of roadway from RM 620 to 3/4 of a mile west of RM 620 will not be ideal for cyclists during this period. The section of Anderson Mill Road from the east has bicycle lanes and some folks may be using RM 2769 to continue west to Anderson Mill west of RM 620. Please see the attached map of the project location.

Subject: Stratford Trail Closure
Date: Wed, 28 Jul 2010 15:22:08 -0500
From: Barrera, Nadia <Nadia.Barrera@ci.austin.tx.us>

All,

I sent out a notice on June 18th regarding the closure of the Stratford Trail. It read:

“Starting on Monday, June 21st the City of Austin will be closing the Stratford trail for 2-3 weeks for renovation of the trailhead at Barton Springs. The attached PDF shows the limits of work. The trail will be closed at Stratford and Barton Springs with Type III Barricades. The construction area will be construction fenced with type III barricades as reflectorized warning of the physical obstruction.”

However, this notice was premature. Construction has been delayed to improve the design. We hope to complete design and begin construction within the next 8 weeks.

Thank you for your patience. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
