NoHelmetLaw.org ... the successful campaign to defeat a proposed mandatory helmet law for Austin adults.

The last dispatch, Aug. 29, 2006...Thanks to everyone who sent letters to City Council, and who showed up to speak at the public hearing. After a long night of hearing public comments from both helmet law supporters and opponents, the City Council adjourned without taking any specific action. Thus it seems that the the helmet law proposal is probably dead -- for anything to happen, a councilmember will have to put the item back on the agenda, and sources say that probably won't happen because there aren't enough votes to pass it. We're not 100% out of the clear yet, but we should know soon.
